I really have to disagree on this. In Europe, boxsprings are almost unheard of and we don't seem to hear them complaining. Also, with a mattress like a Stearns and Foster, that is sometimes more than 12" thick and needs two people to carry it, it really ought to be good enough to support the sleeper. Other companies, selling latex and memory foam mattresses, don't recommend a boxspring, so why Stearns and Foster recommends one for its innerspring and latex versions is debatable. I sometimes wonder if it's just a ploy on making more money by making customers believe they need this 'extra' support.
A bare mattress lying on the floor is bad enough, but a bare mattress in a bed platform is not much better. No matter what kind of bedding is put on the mattress, if there is no headboard, then the bedroom will lack a good visual focal point. Bed headboards are usually the visual focal point in most interior bedroom designs. So instead of a run of the mill headboard to accentuate the mattress, a little bit of creativity and some re-used materials can create a beautiful headboard that becomes more than just a bed.
Getting a good nightss rest is essential for maintaining a healthy physical lifestyle and emotional well-being. It also can improve or hinder your day-to-day functions.
Most mattresses of such high quality contain Nature's best fillings and reflect long-experienced craftsmen's skills. Compare this with the economically automated industrial and chemical production processes of a memory-foam mattress and the question immediately arises: "What exactly are you paying for?" Arguably, much of the answer to the above is the heavy cost of marketing, which is extravagant and gimmicky and very defensive.
