Outlast Technology is a fabric used in Serta mattresses to help regulate body temperature by responding to the bodys temperature. It absorbs excess heat and helps to keep the sleepers temperature balanced.
Memory foam mattresses should not be steam- cleaned as the heat of the steam can damage the foam material. If the mattress is soiled with bodily fluids, lightly spray the spot with an enzymatic cleaner. You can find enzymatic cleaners in pet supply stores and often even in your grocer's pet care aisle. Allow the cleaner to soak into the spot for about 20 minutes, then gently blot the spot with a clean cloth or towel that is dampened with clean water. Once you have thoroughly blotted the spot, use a clean, dry towel to blot at the spot until it is as dry as possible. Continue to allow the mattress to dry fully before replacing mattress pads, sheets, and other bedding. It is important to not soak the mattress during cleaning. Damp cleaning should do the trick.
Tempur-Pedic mattresses were the first to utilize viscoelastic material in the construction of a mattress. Unlike most other manufacturers it only makes memory foam mattresses. It is still the market leader and sets the benchmark - every other mattress manufacture will offer the customer comparisons between their memory foam mattress and Tempur-Pedic - they don't seem to compare their viscoelastic mattress with anyone else! So, is the Tempur-Pedic the best memory foam mattress on the market? Opinions vary; some claim that a lifetime of backache went away when they slept on a Tempur-Pedic, others claim that the mattress sags after only a few months. Also, the memory foam available from Tempur-Pedic does seem to be firmer than its competitors.
Currently the mattress recycling industry is either brand new or non-existent or in Stage 1 everywhere except California where the mattress recycling industry has edged its way into Stage 2 or market growth of the product life cycle. In California the demand for mattress recycling is large enough that multiple recyclers exist and do in fact differentiate themselves from each other via customer convenience. At least one facility refuses to accept public donations opting for those customers needing to dispose of a mattress to take the mattress to a drop off location. A couple of other companies differentiate themselves to carve out their market niche by varying levels of their fees charged for direct pickup of the mattress from the customer's home.
